We are Charles (Brandon) and Nicole Baker. We met in 1999. Nicole has an 18year old daughter named Katelyn from a previous marriage. Our family has grown immensely in the last 10 years!
In the beginning we experienced some tough times. In February 2000 we discovered we were pregnant with fraternal twins. The pregnancy was continually troubled and we ended up losing the first twin, a little girl we named Samantha, shortly thereafter. Nicole continued to have bleeding issues and was subsequently diagnosed with a Placenta Previa. After further testing it was determined that she had developed a Placenta Accreta. This is a condition where the placenta grows THROUGH the uterus and into surrounding internal organs. After additional testing, less than a week later, we were told that our son Connor’s birth was imminent and that Nicole would also need to have a hysterectomy. Our son was only 18.5 weeks gestation and did not qualify for any medical intervention. That week we lost our son Connor as well as our ability to have additional biological children. Our belief, trust and faith in God was shaken to the core. The following days, weeks and months were challenging. We felt that God had forsaken us and abandoned us. It was not an easy journey but the Lord slowly re-opened our hearts to Him.
We once heard a Pastor speak about how our earthly existence is similar to watching a parade. As you are watching you can only see a certain distance in front of the parade and behind the parade. You don’t ever see the whole parade. God is like the person in the blimp above the parade. He sees the beginning, middle and end of the parade. He sees IT ALL. Losing the babies was not a freak accident. The Lord had a plan. That plan meant calling Connor and Samantha to Heaven and then replacing our broken hearts with hearts that were

filled with the Spirit of Adoption.
In June 2002, after 2 years of mourning, God opened our hearts to the future. Through prayer, guidance and faith…. our son Jacob came home from St. Petersburg, Russia in April 2003. Through Jacob’s adoption we recognized the overwhelming orphan problem and prayed about how we could make a difference. We decided to go where the Lord led us. 3 month later in July 2003, the Lord placed a daughter from China on our hearts. In October 2005 we traveled to China to bring our daughter Kiah home. After being home for 3 months with Kiah, the Lord turned our hearts towards the many special needs children waiting in China. We brought our son Luke home in May 2007. 3 months after being home with Luke, the Lord tugged on our hearts again. In October 2008 we traveled to bring our son Logan home from China. bring home our sweet daughter Ava.
